Douglas Sloan
Professor of History and Education, and Director of the Center for the Study of the Spiritual Foundations of Education at  Teachers College, Columbia University.

Sloan is a fellow of the Fetzer Institute and teaches in the Masters Program of the Waldorf Institute of Sunbridge College. He is the author of Insight-Imagination: The Emancipation of Thought in the Modern World  and author/editor of several books on the cultural foundations of American education. From 1977 through 1984, he edited Teachers College Record. It was in that capacity that he first met Owen Barfield, after inviting him to review Julian Jaynes' The Origin of Consciousness in the Breakdown of the Bicameral Mind.

Sloan was one of the organizers of the Owen Barfield Centenary.
